MMXX Anno Domini 20th Anniversary Exhibition (featuring artists from 2011–2020)

Anno Domini // the second coming of Art & Design celebrates 20 years of street art, subculture, and art as activism exhibitions by visionary artists at the forefront of our current urban contemporary art movement.

Our curatorial vision was one of independence and rebellion and the art work that moves us the most comes from those same principles although in extremely diverse forms of it. Painters, illustrators, tattoo artists, woodcarvers, low-rider bike makers, sign painters, tech artists, spoken word poets, performance artists, live loopers and musicians make up our family tree and legacy.

The thread that binds us all is our hope that those that experience the work by these artists will find a truth and beauty in these images & performances of not only what is, but perhaps more importantly, what can be.

We are truly honored to have worked with these artists and the hyper-local to global community of admirers and collectors we’ve met along the way. We look forward to the next 20 years with you all.

Art n Flow – expression and grounding in 2020 by Jessica Gutierrez

This show is a culmination of works that I have created since the beginning of shelter-in-place. As with any artist, the flow of my art is ever shifting. There were times where I felt that art was the only way I could express my thoughts and feelings, and other times where I felt that I didn’t know how to put those thoughts and feelings onto paper. While these artworks might not seem connected at a surface level, they all root from me and my inner/outer experiences during the events of this year.

Artwork by Melanie Cervantes

Join us on Friday December 4th for a virtual opening via Zoom of Fuerza to not only see the amazing work by these artists but to get their insight on their connection to the artwork they produce, after the exhibition we will have a live cumbia performace by local San Jose artist Philthy Dronez!
Register for the event at:

Specifically touching on the subjects of resilience, perseverance, accessibility, and movement, the exhibition Fuerza (Strength) will showcase the work of local artists and what they’ve created during shelter in place and 2020. This exhibition will also showcase how in these unprecedented times artists have adjusted to the current circumstances and created work as a means to resist our current landscape be it to preserve their family and health, or as a political response to this election year.

Elizabeth Blancas, Jesus Barraza, Melanie Cervantes, Ray Ortiz, Felix Quintana, and Stephany Sanchez will virtually share their work in an online gallery open to the public, going live on December 4th, 2020- February 19th, 2021
